For me it felt like ios16 took a huge step backward as far as dictation. It's just horrible, at least on my phone. I'm hoping 17 is better because I use that feature quite a bit.

I've been using Siri for dictation (such as for texting etc) a lot since upgrading to iOS 17 and I’ve been really impressed with it. in my experience it’s way better than its ever been, and is now becoming really useful. Has anyone else found the same?

It still insists on putting full business names from my contacts and then ignoring the next few words as it works out what the full business name is. It’s done this for years, Apple acknowledged it during our testing, promised a fix but as usual, nothing.

I’m a huge fan of the new dictation in iOS 17 and macOS Sonoma. It’s extremely useable now. Not perfect, but WAY better than its ever been.

i also use siri now for google searches: I’ll say something like “search google for Oppenheimer movie (or just about anything)“ and I’ve been consistently getting surprisingly good results.

It’s been frustrating for years and this change is an anonymously, satisfying improvement

I saw a video on YT the other day, someone dictacting and typing as well when needed.
The dictation maintained active, meaning after typing something there was no need to click the dictation button again.
Is this only possible with 17.3 version?
