Control Center used to show my top 3 scene presets for my smart lamp. Now it just shows a single basic smart lamp control and I have to tap into “favorites” to get to the presets.

Is this a bug or another genuinely useful feature that Apple changed for no good reason?

Are you seeing any other issues? I’m seeing some pretty severe lag trying to control devices. If I try to turn on a light it takes about 10 seconds to respond where it used to be nearly instant.

Nope, no lag. Just a removal of the extremely useful favorites buttons.

Seeing the same. Before in earlier ios 15.x, it used to use ML and populate the most or recent used HomeKit devices in control panel. Now, the HomeKit devices seems fixed and doesn't change anymore. I preferred the way it worked before.

This is not the first time Apple has changed something for the worse.

I think it's a bug. I've been toggling the Home App settings in Settings-->Siri&Search..>Home and when I go back into Control Center, the recently/most-used sometimes appears for an instant and then goes back to fixed-layout.

I've also noticed that now, when you toggle on a light in Control Center, it always turns the light on at 100% and doesn't remember the previous light setting. It works fine when you are in the Home app itself.

I signed up just to comment on this thread. I'm having the same issue. I think it's a bug, because if I long-press on any of the smart lights that show, and then cancel it out, the most-used presets pop right back up. As soon as the control center is closed and reopened, it all goes back to the wrong way. I wonder if I could screen record it.

Has anyone here found a solution to this yet? It is most disturbing.

Just upgraded having not tried the beta and this particular issue is a massive frustration. I want to be able to choose which shortcuts to in control centre, not by ML or most used. I want to choose the ones that will make my life easier.
Anybody found a way yet?

I tried all the old versions such as favourites etc and nothing.

Nope, 15.6.1 never worked right. You might try 15.7. I can tell you it is fixed in 16.0, but then you have to live with the mind-boggling process of changing your wallpaper.

same at times.. most annoying with the door locks especially

It isn’t fixed in 16. Worked perfectly in 15.6.1. I chose which HomeKit items were in favourites and that’s what was in control centre.
Now on 16, it’s moved the Apple TVs onto it. I’ve played around with favourites, etc and it makes no difference.

Apple have decided what I want as shortcuts unfortunately.

It's working perfectly in 16 for me, and worked not at all in 15.6.1 for me.

Has anyone figured out a fix for this? At some point after updating to iOS 16 my lights stopped working so I deleted and re-added the home and now all I get is one light that it randomly picks for the control center. The funny thing is most of the time it’s the light that I don’t turn on or off often.

I have deleted all the optional control center icons just to see if maybe it’s a space issue but nope that doesn’t change anything. I have turned on and off a light multiple times just to see if the system would think oh he likes to turn that light on and off but no, that doesn’t change anything either.

So instead of just clicking a button on the control center to turn on the light, I have to click the home button on the control center and then click the light and then slide the light because you know I can’t just click it to turn it on. Apple wonders why HomeKit isn’t more popular… Yes, I know ranting and first world problems but for something that could be easily fixed to work, but it’s just broken for unknown reasons. How hard is it to make it where I can just single click the light on or off.

If I am doing something wrong and there’s an easy way for me to turn on and off the light with my iPhone other than Siri please tell me. The funny thing is I have an app on my Mac where I can do this easily. Of course, on iPhone you can’t just add apps to the control center like you can add apps to the menu bar on a Mac.

Has this been fixed ? I’m on 16.1 now and my home kit favorites are still not in control center . I only have two items and it changes randomly

Not that I’ve figured out yet. So annoying as it’s got items in control Centre I don’t ever use in control Centre.

At iOS 16.1 it worked fine for me. I had 5 devices in control center. But this week I had to reset my home in Homekit because of some malfunction of the Ikea Tradfri remote control.
After I had configured all again I noticed that there are only 2 devices on control center.

Curious thing: Go into settings > Control Center. Then turn "Show Home Controls" Off and then On again. When opening Control Center I can see 5 HomeKit devices. But this works once. When you close Control Center and open it again, there are only 2 devices left.
So it feels like a bug, because Control Center can handle more than 2 devices.
Hope Apple can fix this.
Note: the same happens on my wife's iPhone.
On my iPad which is on 15.6.1, the same behaviour.

When you click on the Home button in Control Center, click on the icon for the light and that'll turn it on and off.

Yeah, I figured that one out after a few tries. What’s weird is it added my lights back to the control center after maybe two weeks.

Apple is just so out of touch what when it comes to Siri. Right now they working on how to remove the requirement to say “Hey” in front of Siri. I’m sure if you asked everyone who has issues with Siri what’s the one thing they would change I don’t think that’s what it would be 😂😂
