Well.. I am selling my iPhone so I wanted to restore it clean for the new owner. Just for kicks, I decided to duplicate the MobileSync file just in case it wiped it or overwrote it.. well.. what do you know?! The "backup" of the new iPhone overwrote my most recent backup.

I'm probably going to get an iPhone 3G in the future and would like to use that duplicate iPhone backup I made. Does anyone know if I can just rename it and drag and drop it into the MobileSync folder and iTunes will recognize it? Or am I screwed? :) Thanks!

If I understood you correctly, you should be fine. Just make sure that the copy of the Backup is in the right folder when you plug in your new iPhone. You should be given the option to restore to a back up. If not, right click on your iPhone in iTunes and select restore from backup.
