Did a heads up comparison with GS5 and iPhone 6 and Plus at work

Yeah there we go, probably just an update glitch and now confirmed by another known poster in the Alternatives section.

It was never impossible that it'd be a real issue, and if it is - then so what??! Why does anyone who prefers iPhones have to get so damned defensive about it? And why does every other Android fan have to gloat about it?

Well, so far I haven't seen any lag. What I have seen is constant refreshes of apps and webpages due to lack of RAM, but it isn't bothering me enough to care.

The one thing that is very bothersome is scrolling down long webpages. What would take one swipe with Android now takes 5 or 6, just like with WP. Sorry, but Android has everyone beat on scrolling speed

Agreed....the ram doesn't bother me, and the webpage scrolling...its a matter of preference I guess.

I had a gs5...it is a great phone, but to claim that it is smother, and the camera is better is just incorrect.

Maybe your pictures look better when over saturated on amloed...but take a low light picture and the GS5 can't compare to the iphone. I do remember the gs5 taking great daylight pictures, but so does the new iphones.

Wouldn't those things (in bold) be called lag???

Getting back to the top of a webpage isn't so bad though 🙂

There are better ways to use other than nfc to do file transfer. Nfc is slowest way to transfer, it's hardly useful other than to do trivial tasks you can already achieve by just going into settings. I had no use with NFC on my HTC One and one thing I wanted to was make payment, but you know what I couldn't even use Google Wallet. See how broken things are in Andorid universe?

No, the first one is called a webpage refresh. Android does it too. Maybe the LG G3 can have 12 webpages open without refreshing (3gb of ram), while the iphone 6 can only have 6. That may or may not be the case, but it is a refresh, not lag.

The second one, again no. iOS scrolls different than android. iOS scrolls smooth (the opposite of lag) at the same speed each time you swipe up. Android, while not always (mostly) as smooth, will actually speed up the faster you swipe. Therefore android can scroll to the bottom of a webpage faster.

Not quite,.., I have zipped file on my iMac containing docs and videos. It is 3GB in size. I connect my IP 6 but have way to transfer that zipped file. In Android my phone shows up as a hard drive with all my available storage. SD card and internal. Now I can use USB 3 speeds to transfer that file. Can't do that in IOS..... See how broken IOS is.

I'd call the second thing he described just slow scrolling speed. It's a matter of preference between how they design Android and iOS I guess. I too prefer the fast scrolling speed of Android.

Back to topic. I did a quick compare with my mates wife's GS5 last night. Nothing too comprehensive just loading web pages, apps and general navigation around menus and I have to say my iP6 didn't suffer in the way the OP experienced. In fact my phone was ever so slightly quicker at some of the things, so perhaps it's unusual, or a defective iPhone/software glitch with the OP? It seems strange it was on two iPhones though. I'm sure we'll find out as the weeks go on and we have more users with hands on experience. I don't doubt there are teething problems as the is on many new release phones 🙂

I think you need to take into account what kind of apps your mates had on her gs5. If you're comparing both phones and one is brand new not completely set up and the other has been set up for months, it could mean she has running apps in the background that could affect the outcome.

I still refuse to believe that gs5 can't compete with iP6.

Some of you really love sipping the Kool-aid.

Agreed, that feature is also killer. Obviously the best of both worlds would be optimum.....but then such collaboration is not presently a feature of the world we live in 😛

We tried to do a fair test to be fair. We killed all the background apps on each phone and launched the same apps out of interest. It wasn't a proper test I did say that. Not sure where I said the GS5 could not compete with the ip6. You must be referring to somebody else.

What's your last sentence about? Please don't be so rude, it's not necessary.

My last sentence was too all who think ip6 is better than all android flagship. Keep an open mind when it comes to both platforms/OS.

You, are easily offended and shouldn't be. It's an open forum. So sit back and enjoy the discussion.

Yes, Airdrop is Apple devices only but what other devices besides other Android devices would you be transferring files from/to on your Android phone? Seems to me both situations are exactly the same.

Really? Didn't know this could be done. Does it drop the files in the Video app?

But the better point of this is that Airdrop isn't just limited to phones/tablets with NFC. Yes, it's limited to Apple devices but it allows me to quickly transfer between iPhone/iPad/Mac.

I do agree regarding limiting NFC functionality though--wish it could at least be used with NFC tags to change configurations, settings, etc.

Oh, and technically, I believe this is only available with Yosemite so most don't have access to this yet.

You guys boggle my mind, if your phone lags...it lags...the new iPhones lag and that's just the truth, even if I'm a newbie I just used a friends new iPhone 6 plus and it really does lag in certain areas

I haven't claimed my iPhone lags and haven't noticed it on the 6 yet. It may be the truth for some devices but so far mine is lag free with not so much as a single app crash. It's new I wouldn't expect it to.

My 5s doesn't lack or iphone 6 in stores I tried. What truth? It doesn't lack in general, it's very likely there's scaling issues with apps icons which weren't updated for ip6.

Try scrolling in certain applications, especially on the plus....it lags
