My black one has the same effect too. It has several lines on the back. They're not scratches or anything, but part of the case.

It's part of the leather design. Kind of makes each case unique.

Exactly. Leather is a natural material that is not going to be completely consistent. It's not supposed to be, and if that's something you want, buy a synthetic case. The saddle brown is going to age quickly (which is part of the design) so you'll quickly not even notice these marks anymore.

you can take it back for another one but chances are slim you get one with no markings. Mine weren't noticeable when I first got them, then as I used it they appeared. I actually like them.

a little under 2 months of use between the photos.
