There will be a lot of innovation in next years iPhone too. Apple is never short on ideas when it comes to introducing breakthrough technology, performance, and features.

If next year's devices all have even more RAM and this alone encourages many more people to upgrade all over again, that's a good thing.

What breakthrough technology was introduced with the iphone 6?

No, they're forcing me not to buy it.

I'm angry because I've been a loyal iPhone user since the very first one in 2007. They are outright insulting the intelligence of their users trying to sell a $750 phone with 16GB storage. And they're going to sell millions of them to dimwits who don't realize other manufacturers are moving to a 32GB option.

Are the people running Apple so incompetent that they can't come up with a product line that will make their margins without pathetically sticking to 16GB baseline while other manufacturers can? We've been stuck at 16GB for almost five years! Are they really trying to say that NAND flash has had zero progress since then? Bull*hit. I wish people would join me in not buying the iphone until they move to a 32GB base model. Five. ******. Years.

The NAND flash in the iphone has literally dropped in price to LESS than a third of what it was in 2010. Unbelievable. I'd be a little less mad if the 6 Plus came with 32GB. But no, they were too incompetent to swing it.

But why give your customers a free extra if they will buy your product anyways even if you just include the bare minimum?

The fact that a lot are even willing pay you an extra $100/per for the extra feature you are asking for free is just pure profit $$$.

This. Apple isn't going to go above and beyond if they can get away with less and make more money.

You drink wayy too much Apple coolaide.

Apple Pay (not just the NFC chip) has the potential to make a huge change in the convenience & security of our purchases in the next 5 years.

Seems like everyday on the news lately you see another huge corporation hacked for credit card info :(

While it might not be ubiquitous overnight, you've gotta start somewhere and ApplePay is a breakthrough technology indeed if everything works out.

apple pay is literally just apple branding a NFC thing. It's not breakthrough. The only thing that makes it so much better than previous phones with NFC is that they are actually getting US retailers to adopt it more.

They're not insulting anyone. Most people understand their storage needs. If they don't need more than 16GB, then what does it matter if it has 16GB or 5TB on there? And if they need more than 16GB, 64GB is only a modest price bump, and it's twice what they would've gotten before.

No, the people 'running Apple' are not incompetent. I think the sales numbers have shown, and will continue to show, that.

You have three storage choices: 16GB, 64GB, or 128GB. Pick the one you need and go with it.

Not new or unique. Chip and pin cards in Europe and NFC pay terminals in Asia have been doing this for years. What is new, is forcing US banks and retailers to adopt this technology AND THAT alone is the single biggest 'innovation' by any tech company in years!

Why give them even 16GB? Why not give them 512Kb and make them pay $1,000 per extra MB?

I'm sure you guys think it's a "great deal" too. It's not. They've been reaping enormous profits for years by sticking it at 16GB and not bringing the benefits of Moore's Law to society at large. They've been artificially keeping the base model at 16GB as NAND flash prices have plummeted to less than a third of what they were in 2010.

If you people stay as content as you are with such ridiculous practices then Apple will continue to keep the base model at 16GB indefinitely. It's an absolute ripoff. They have to make a good profit, I understand that, but *ANOTHER* year at 16GB as other manufacturers have moved to 32GB? Especially on the iPhone 6 Plus, a $750 phone at 16GB? That's astonishing!

Jesus, can you stop regurgitating their marketing materials please?

I am sick of this corporate double-think, where every move Apple makes is wonderful. It's not. I love everything about the iPhone 6 Plus, but this decision to stay at 16GB has infuriated me, I will not be buying it and I don't think any of you should have to pay $850 for a phone just to avoid a ridiculous 16GB storage.

You have a certain fire and spunk that I can appreciate :)

Preach!

I think I will stick with my iPhone 5 for yet another year until Apple, late to the party, *FINALLY* manages to get to a 32GB base model. I'm betting that by then everyone else will have moved to a 64GB base model.

I can forgive them for charging high prices, they do use great materials on their phones. I will not forgive them for being stuck in the year 2010 as far as storage tech goes.

They're stuck in 2010 with RAM too.

You really think your rant is going to change anyone's mind here? Good on you for sticking with your convictions and voting with your dollars (or in this case, withholding your dollars) but there are way too many Apple fanboy sheep out there for your statement to make a whit of difference.

The higher ups at Apple know they have a base of fans that are blindly loyal to the brand and will gladly throw their money (and principles) at Apple to buy virtually anything they come up with, regardless of how crappy it may be. When a company has a fanbase such as this, the whole concept of the free market and capitalism goes out the window somewhat because now you end up with a company that no longer makes its business decisions based on market demand.

But hey, I'm cool with that. I rarely if ever buy the low end of any of Apple's products anyway, and as an AAPL stockholder for the last 10 years now I really don't care what Apple does as long as they continue to make me money. :)

GSMARENA says 6+ has 2GB R RAM and the 6 has 1GB

GSMARENA has updated their iPhone 6 Plus page to indicate that the iPhone 6 Plus actually does have 1GB RAM.

It's pretty official that it's 1GB RAM now that every review site that has mentioned RAM has stated that the iPhone 6 Plus does have 1GM RAM.

But that's how it is with Apple, though. They never "innovate" by being the "first". Case in point:

  • Laptop existed before iBook. But the fact that they push hard for Wi-fi, better design (white poly model), and better screen, it makes those the standard
  • MP3 players existed before iPod. Apple again introduced great interface to access your music, iTunes Store, and hard drive storage (and eventually flash) and they now become the standard.
  • Smartphones existed before iPhone but it was clunky and nobody bothered to use them (instead we used ****** Moto RAZR). Now slab-looking smartphone without qwerty keyboard is the standard and pushed Blackberry to brink of failure and Nokia was forced to sell to Microsoft.
  • Tablets sure existed for a LONG time before iPad. Nobody ever gives a damn about them because their performance was atrocious and the interface was horrible for touch. Pen was required, specs was gimped, etc. Now iPad is being used everywhere.
  • I've outlined just the major products but same things can be said with featureset too such as multitasking on iOS. Yes NFC has existed before but nobody in the US is apparently giving a damn about it because there is no partnership and retail penetration. Now that Apple includes NFC in their products and they are going around to partner with many retail stores, I can guarantee you the adoption will be much... much... wider

As you see, Apple never wants to become the first in putting features. In fact, they are usually one of the last because they are taking their time and their customers just buy whatever they churn out. But most of the times, these slowness in adopting the latest and greatest feature just means when it comes, it is not some gimpy beta-esque features that your grandmother has to read internet forum to figure out.
