Other Did Apple make 60hz look worse than it should?

Why is it that...

60hz on my Windows laptop - looks fine
60hz on Nintendo Switch screen - looks fine
60hz on my TV - looks fine

but

60hz when the 120hz Apple devices are limiting to 60hz looks awful?
60hz on my iPad (not a 120hz model) looks awful?
60hz on my iMac (not a 120hz model) looks awful?

On every Apple device I've seen, 60hz now looks like 30hz.

What gives?

60 hz on my iPad and MacBook look fine to me. I don’t notice a difference between those and my Nintendo switch. Maybe it’s just me tho!

Looks fine to me too. My MBA and desktop Windows/Linux PC share a 60Hz monitor, and they look/feel identical.

Apple’s 60Hz is actually one of the best.

Samsung did the same also. Their 60Hz looks terrible on 120Hz panels.

it's the nature of running something at non-native refresh rates. my 8+ running 60hz on its 60Hz display is smooth. running a game at 40 fps on my 60Hz display is not the best experience but turning on freesync makes it much smoother.

60Hz refresh rate looks fine on my Mac Mini M1.

Certainly feels worse on my phone but I did get used to 120Hz in less than a day so there’s that
