I just saw a 17" iMac on ebay that said it has a TOUCHSCREEN. It claims "the monitor is also a TOUCHSCREEN monitor where you can simply push the screen with your finger to run commands".
    Is this true?

And if so should I consider this?
Is it slow, compared to new model?

Apple never made a touchscreen iMac, but there is a company that will replace the screen and make it touchable.
In any case, the touchscreen wouldn't make it any slower.

I think it's the G4 iMac because some people have managed to get 3rd party touchscreen to work on it. Yes, it's slow compared to current models or for any Intel Mac

Hmm.... Sounds cool. But I am just not a fan of touch screens - there is no productivity increase for me.

That would be one of the first iMac models with the Intel processors. It's definitely not going to be as fast as the newer models, but I can't tell you a definition of slow. It all depends on what you'll be using it with.

Wow, that's a little pricey. A grand to have it installed on your hardware. I saw a Dell the other day for $899 at Sams Club that was touch screen but I wasn't that impressed.

If your monitor is upright (like most), touch function is pretty much useless. If one looks at input devices over history, almost all of them have one thing in common, they are all horizontially oriented. That is because it is easier for the human hand and arm to work with devices that pretty much lie flat. The novelty of a touch screen computer (that is not a tablet) would wear off quite quickly.

In my not so humble opinion............

    touch screen

I personally just bought the Imac with the touchscreen......it is not a g4 it is 17 inch Imac....intel.....I am really impressed on how the touchscreen works..Doest scroll as smooth as say an Iphone but its good...... you can touch all comands, use it with links on the web etc....VERY MINIMAL effect on monitor resolution.....Got Imac touchscreen....new keyboard and new mouse. loaded with apps......450.00 plus 35.00 shipping insurance was included..... I went from using a G4 to this and I am VERY happy

Two answers: No, you didn't. OR From where? Not Apple.

How about your arms after 20 minutes?

There should be NO effect...
