I'm pretty sure I'm going to finally upgrade my current iPhone to a 17 Pro Max. I was browsing the Apple Store app and I was seeing what my financing options are with my Apple Card. Seems like it was a simple process in the past but now it is wanting me to select a carrier. I use AT&T but I don't want to involve them at all when it comes to buying a new phone. I'm afraid they will do something stupid like make me change my old plan and/or charge me a stupid upgrade fee even though I plan on buying an unlocked phone straight from Apple.

Can anyone comment on this? Has their 0% financing on their Apple Card changed since I bought my 13 PM or am I missing something here?

For some years they’ve required a carrier to do any financing. But people report you can select T-Mobile and they don’t check any account data. And all phones sold by Apple are unlocked.

Yes ^^^ this!

I have been using Apple Card's 24 month zero interest for years.

I had to select TMO because my carrier is an MVNO (Visible).

Love unlocked because I travel internationally and use ESIMs a lot.

Okay, just to confirm. I can pre-order using the TMO option but I should be able to activate the new phone on my current AT&T service right?
