Did I brick my wife's phone

last night I tried to update my wife's 5c to 10.1 and now it just shows the apple logo like its loading but then nothing happens. My iMac is dead so I can't use that to restore. Her touch screen is acting up too, it's not as responsive as before. (Noticed before the update) Any ideas of what I can do besides make a genius appointment. Thank you

See if your have a friend that will let you use their computer. if your iPhone is not booting up, there is nothing you could do on it without a computer.

If you could find a friend with iTunes on it you might be able to get the OS up and running again. Hope she was backing up to the cloud.

Just try restarting the phone by holding the Sleep/Wake button and Home button simultaneously

I should have written that I tried that. It just hangs on apple logo and never restarts.

If it has a hardware issue the restore or update will not complete.
I had the same problem last week with an old iPhone 4 that was acting funny at random times but it did work for the most part.
Once I did an iTunes restore it got stuck and wouldn't complete and it kept entering restore mode and ask to be restored again.
So its pretty much done and its pretty old I wouldn't waste time or money fixing an iPhone 4.

You should be in good hands now. FYI, you need to do a DFU restore (google it) to revive an iPhone that won't boot up.

I didn't have a mac and was doing it wrong when I tried at the store. I had to hold down the home and power button but then let go of the power button while
Holding the home button. That restarted it to be able to download iOS 10.1 and then I restored from the cloud.
