Did I buy the right DVI adapter for my Macbook Pro?

Hi,
I have a Macbook Pro 15" with the full-sized DVI port. It came with a DVI-I Single Link-to-VGA adapter. I wanted to buy some replacements, so I bought this adapter, not realizing it was dual link.

Is there any negative to having the dual-link DVI? It's my understanding that it's used for higher resolution, which I won't be needing. Thanks!
