Did I damage my 4s?

Was swimming today and left my phone on the deck under the umbrella. Well the sun moved and went I went to grab it, the thing was super hot and hand a screen saying it needed to cool down before use. I tried to turn it off, but it wouldn't give me that option.


It went back to normal after 3 mins inside. Do you think I damaged any hardware? This is the first I've seen of this screen.

You didn't damage it. That screen is its built in safety to overheating.

Nah, the phone has safety measures built in to prevent that from happening.
