So i got an iMac 7,1

20 inch

320gb hdd
in good cosmetic condition

It's working perfectly, I paid $240 for it..
Did I pay going price? too much? a little less then average?

For an old underpowered computer like that, $240 seems a bit steep for me.

I would say that price is a bit below what it's worth in good working condition. Those old iMacs are a very inexpensive way to to get a computer for basic tasks that can still run the latest OS X. If it does what the OP needs it to do, it's a good deal.
