They haven't contacted me. Get the MBP tomorrow.

I'd say that even after you get your computer make sure that you have enough money/credit in that account to cover the cost whenever Amazon gets around to billing you properly for it. I'd say that after a year they've probably forgotten about it, but particularly within a month or so it's likely that the error that caused this will be caught and corrected.

Back in 1999, I bought a TV from Amazon and they had incorrectly priced the item, it was a $1000 TV and they were selling it for $100. I placed the order, and it said it shipped, but they never charged my card... Low and behold, the item never showed up, and when I contacted Amazon they said that the item had been placed on their site in error, and they reserved the right to pull back pricing mistakes. They told me my card had not been charged, and then apologized to me for the inconvenience and gave me a $50 gift card.... Awesome customer service if you ask me.

I highly doubt your laptop will show up if payment doesn't clear... Either that, or your bank is making a huge mistake, showing you funds that you don't have.

I've heard of banks failing to put a hold on the account... It's possible your bank immediately released the hold by mistake, but once Amazon's merchant account settles with your bank the amount will be deducted.

Nothing in life is free, especially not a 1000+ laptop. BTW, you better keep the money in your account. Otherwise you could be charged over draft fees once it finally clears.. Or if you used a credit card then you could be charged over limit fees if you no longer have enough available credit.

Keeping money in the account. Thanks. The laptop is in the nearest big city down the road.

After 42 hours...I've finally been charged.
End thread.

Not to prolong this thread, but I had a similar experience with Dell and a monitor several years ago.

I had it shipped overnight and it didn't show and the FedEx tracking ended after the pickup scan. I called them and they sent another one, which arrived the next day.

Two days later, the original one shows up, still no scan activity. So I called Dell and told them because I didn't want to be dishonest and also didn't want to pay for a 2nd monitor. I had to get escalated twice before I got someone who understood what I was saying and he said no one ever calls to say they got two of something. They sent a call tag and back it went unopened. Two weeks later there was still no scan activity on the original tracking number.

I once ordered a TV from Amazon. They immediately charged my card and it showed up at my door a couple days later. How awesome the internets are.
