Hi all,

This might sound a bit daft, but I installed my Sky Broadband, and what came with it was two icons on the desktop, as an ex windows user I just dragged these to the trash, now I cant seem to find the program have I uninstalled it???? If not, were can I find it?

Sorry if I sound a bit dense, but its my first mac lol

Thanks

James

All you did was unmount the program installers. This is how you install a program on a Mac:

1 - Download the program from the internet. It will generally be a .dmg (disk image) file.
2 - Click on the .dmg file (or it may mount itself automatically). This will be the icon that appears on your desktop - it's a virtual disk that contains the program for you to copy to your computer.
3 - In Finder, open your Applications folder. Also open up the mounted disk on your desktop. There should be the application icon inside it.
4 - Drag the application from the mounted disk image to your Applications folder. You've now installed it to your Mac.
5 - Drag the disk image, just as you did before, to the Trash to unmount it. You will notice the program will still be installed in your Applications folder.

Hope this has helped :)

Thanks, I am slowly getting it lol, does this same thing apply to things installed off discs, cause thats what my sky broadband set-up was on.

Thanks

This is what I did, inserted install disc, left two icons on my desktop. I thought I could move those icons to my dock, so I did, and the two icons appeared their.

Then I dragged the two items from my desktop to my trash, and emtied the trash, but then when I tried to load up the programs from the dock a big ? appeared over the icon and it wouldnt load so i just dragged the two icons to the trash lol.

Do I need to re-install it now?

Thanks

James

Yes. Dock icons are just shortcuts...or placeholders, if you will.

Open Your Applications Folder

The one on your dock to the right of the white dotted road line. Your applications (as we in the Mac community refer to programmes as) should still be there.

Just drag them back to the dock, or if you prefer, launch them from the folder. Welcome to OSX and Mac.....You will never go back!:)
