Hi guys,

a little help here.. I was trying to install Kali Linux on my 13" MacBook Pro from 2013. I failed.. so I booted back into macOS and wanted to delete the exFat partition that I created for Kali. I got an error.. can't really remember what it said but the OS continued to work normally and all my files were there. However, when I rebooted later the screen just stayed black, nothing happened. I went into recovery mode and opened Disk Utility, this is what I see:

So that's my internal 128GB SSD. The 96.12GB are my files, I think..
Last back up was a few weeks ago..
Is there anything I can do?

Thanks in advance!
Chris

Hm. Since you were trying to install Kali I can only assume you know your way around a Terminal.

So pop open the Terminal from recovery, and dig around with distil. You may need to recreate the APFS container around your macOS volume.

You could also plug the Mac into another Mac and see if you can target disk mode into it.

I suggest that before you try anything like this again, that you first create a BOOTABLE BACKUP on an external USB3 drive using either CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper.

OP try
Code:
diskutil list internal
from the recovery terminal. This should list the disks, containers and volumes still present on your SSD.

thanks guys for your suggestions.. I was able to make an image of the drive in recovery mode and save it to another Mac using target disk mode. The .dmg wasn't mountable though (no mountable file systems) so I had to use some Data Recovery App to restore the files.. :)
