If it wasn’t needed for the iOS, watchOS…whateverOS development, Apple would kill the Mac like the iPod.

It was not.

It was discussed, in passing, both on April 3rd and on the 11th, in a meta-thread on the news forum.

This news also follows late 2022 news (which was reported by MR) of iPad sales falling, as well.
