Did I miss this, or is it an unheralded feature?

Or, is this a "RTFM" moment?

Goofing with my Day 1 iPhone, I "held" on any number of alpha and numeric keys in SMS, and lo! accented characters appeared!

I swear I never noticed this until tonight (1.0 through 1.1.1), and I thought I had figured out all the functionality.

My Spanish-texting friends will be so pleased!

And if this is nothing more than an Old-timer's moment, just walk away and let me enjoy the brief buzz...

This is an 1.1.1 update feature. It works with letters too.

Well my phone does not do anything when you hold down a letter in sms. I have 1.1.1.

    It depends on the letter.
