(please ignore earlier posting, was misinformed)

Yes, after weighing it up, it looks like you got a pretty good deal. :)

I don't think so. You got an upgraded system with a decent amount of ram and a fairly roomy SSD for your OS. Not to mention niceties like Airport and Bluetooth (which mine lack).

I paid $350 for a base 1,1 which had 2.0Ghz dual core processors, 1GB of ram, 250GB hard drive and the 7300GT. Mind you, my case is in great shape as it was used as a glorified desktop in a university admin setting for it's entire life until I got it. With the upgrades I've put in (5355s $120, 180GB SSD $140, 4GB of ram $35, GTX 560 Ti plus cables $160) my end total will be about the same. Actually, not counting the video card, there's less than a $100 difference between our machines and you have way more ram.

It's not bad but if you ever have to ask if you paid too much then I assume it is too late to worry about that.

I would have likely looked at a newer machine, but that is just me.

pretty good deal, Now see if you can sell it for $800 and make a nice profit to buy a newer model and keep working your way up the ladder until your on a 12 core.

    just my 2 cents

I think you got a good deal. Don't worry. The upgraded 18g ram is expensive if you buy it currently. You have SSD and 2 extra HDs.

Is that 8GB or 18GB of RAM? (Your sig says 8GB)

That's not a bad price, considering the SSD, the 5355's, and the 18GB of RAM (RAM for this machine is not cheap).

I'm a Mac Pro 2,1 owner, which is basically the same as the 1,1. The Nvidia 7300GT is pretty worthless (I had one), and I'd upgrade that if you are doing anything with photos, video, or graphics in general. I'd also do the hack to get Mountain Lion to work, unless you want to stay on Snow Leopard (but don't stay on Lion/10.7, Mountain Lion is better).

Yep, I'd say you got a very good deal. I think $850 to $900 is more appropriate actually. So the $700 you paid looks pretty sweet! Not sure what Case Condition B means tho... If there are noticeable scratches on the case then $700 is right on the money - if not then it's like I said, pretty sweet.

BTW, which KB and mouse did it come with?

Kewl, wired rocks! I'm using the same KB but I swapped out the mouse for the R.A.T.5

Which has special OS X drivers and a buttload or preconfigured game profiles. :p

Lovely mouse! And the build quality matches the MacPro case... As in seemingly bullet-proof! :)
If there's even a home invasion here I'll just whack'em with this thing! :D

With all the upgrade, it's a solid deal. Don't think about how much you paid for it, just enjoy it. :)

But thinking how little he paid for it will be part of his enjoyment with it. :)

Where else can ya get 21.3GHz of power and 18GB to play in for under $700? ;)
