So, after upgrading my S4 to an Ultra 2 I have been loving the bigger screen, battery life and bunches of other improvements. I also loved the combination of the Ultra and the new Titanium Pro Max I bought the same day. They coordinate well. So well, I am going on a titanium binge.

I decided to get an Apple Watch Edition Series 7 Titanium to wear on dressier occasions, match the titanium phone well (and maybe wear for sleep tracking as it would be more comfortable than the Ultra.)

Ordered an "eBay refurbished" one for a pretty good price since it had free returns. When I got it, there were a bit more scratches than I hoped for and the battery was at 98% (so my hopes of replacing the watch when paying Apple for a new battery were dashed.)

The biggest problem was the speaker was destroyed. Every sound/notification/call is distorted worse than anything I have ever heard before. It's like everything sounds like a "Peanuts" adult talking to Charlie Brown. That was the breaking point. I started my return process and printed out the shipping label.

Still decided to try wearing the watch to mix things up and noticed something I think is better than anything I could have ever hoped for:

Is that AppleCare+ coverage automatically applying to me????

Is there any chance it will disappear or not be under my name/AppleID account?

I obviously want a whole new watch from apple as this one has a number of scratches instead of just repairing the speaker. What's the best way to ensure I get a new watch?

If all this is true and I now have an Apple Watch Edition Series 7 Titanium with 18 more months of AppleCare+ for me... I feel like I won the lotto.

Whomever had it originally bought AppleCare for it. It is automatically associated with the serial number. Therefor you are entitled to use it! Happy Holidays!

Should be available to use, but the outcome will depend on Apple inspecting it and their findings on replacement, repair, etc. For replacement theoretically you'd just pay the AC+ cost for that ($79 plus tax) - whether that is a good deal or not depends on how much you paid for it on ebay. Your total cost may eclipse what an excellent condition used one would go for but at least you'd have a new (refurbished) watch out of it.

Paid $280. So paying another $79 is well worth it to me to then have a perfect looking and functioning Titanium Edition watch.

Even more so because the AppleCare+ has 19 more months to go that I can continue to get new batteries or replace the watch again. Also, gives me the option to pay monthly/annually for AppleCare+ starting in July of 2025 if I want to keep the replacement option on a 4 year old watch at that point.

That will be a decision for another day, but having a collection of Apple Watches with AppleCare+ or ones I could sell with AppleCare+ in 2025 if there is something I want to add or replace them with, is a great option to me. Who knows, the Titanium 7 in 2025 could be like the Ceramic 5 now and be highly sought after... adding AppleCare+ onto that?? no brainer.

With AppleCare+, you might be able to do the quick replacement, You'll need a credit card with enough balance to cover the cost of the new watch for a week or 2 though.

THey'll put a hold on your card for the cost of the watch and ship you a new watch, once you receive it, you'll return yours in that box (or maybe you'll get an empty to return it in), Once apple gets the old watch back, and inspects it, they'll release the hold on your card. In theory your card never actually gets charged unless they don't receive your old watch in time.

This will guarantee a new watch for you, since they won't have yours to repair until after you have a new one.
I'm not sure what happens if they decide the old one is not covered

I spoke to Apple when I cancelled AC+ for my Ultra (got the Ultra 2 and tried Ultra in). I have a S7 Ti that has AC"+ for another year so I asked if I were to sell it, could I transfer AC"+? The answer was yes, but the easiest way would be to have old and new owner one the phone at the same time ...
So, contact Apple and ask if its covered or not

From what I see the Series 9 GPS+Cellular depreciated so fast, I see a few on eBay for $350-450. Now I know not to get an Apple Watch on launch day when people are selling theirs.

I mean, but I don't want a boring aluminum S9... I already have the latest and greatest tech-wise with an Ultra 2.

This is the last of the "Apple Watch Edition" watches. This was more expensive than a Stainless Steel watch when new, so to compare depreciation of a run-of-the-mill aluminum watch is a mistake. (I do get your point on waiting a couple months after launch for the normal watches though...)

As a secondary watch to the Ultra 2, I want something different and more rare. The white S5 Ceramic is cool, but the S7 has the same size screen as current watches and was the last Edition watch(plus matches my phone). Criteria met...

You could turn your watch into Ultra

Unlesss the original owner transfers the AC+ plan to you, they can cancel at any time by calling Apple for a prorated refund. Most people are unaware Apple does this so chances are good that the watch will remain covered.

Was it this one? https://www.ebay.com/itm/2258278991...ar=524932869146&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Eyeing a Natural Ti Series 7 for myself too. How are you liking it so far?
Yes, that was the company. I’m loving it actually. The 45 mm feels like wearing nothing after the ultra 2 and the screen really is the same size. Dresses up way better than the Ultra. Loving the watch. (Despite I am replacing it…)

So, I just ordered a “new” replacement via AppleCare+. I will post here when it arrives and I send this one back and make sure it was only $79.

I am tempted then to go into Apple and buy a year extension of AppleCare+ to make sure it is then transferred into my name. Not 100% sure, but I think that will work.

You won’t be able to stack AppleCare plans, and only the person who originally bought AppleCare can transfer it to someone else since the current agreement is between that original buyer and Apple. Also, not all plans are transferable at all.

Why would you pay anything? You said the speaker is broken, that would be grounds for repair/replacement under AC+ without a fee.

Can you please share some picture of the AW7 and the IP15 togheter? I have a natural titanium 15 pro max that i love and a space black AW series 7 that i love too.. but i'm thinking to change the space black for a titanium model, to obtain the perfect match :)

Just got my "new" replacement. AW7 Titanium and the iPhone 15 Pro/Max titanium are closer to each other than either is to the Ultra 1/2.

None of them are the same, but the 2 closest are the 7 and the iPhone

Seems like a great score! Something for you to consider now, is that since you got a replacement, now the previous owner cannot cancel the AppleCare+ plan to get a prorated refund, as one of the requirements is that the plan hadn't been used, so effectively you have also secured your coverage until July 2025.:)

The person that originally paid for the AppleCare+ could theoretically call up Apple right now and cancel it, and be entitled to a full refund of the pro-rated amount.

I don't know if you'd be allowed to renew/extend the AC+, but that July 2025 date can essentially be 'revoked' at any time.

The original purchaser can indeed cancel the AC+ plan for a pro-rated refund even if the plan has been used. Apple can deduct the service amount from the refund, but we don't know if the OP actually paid the $79 or not.

I recently had my S7 Titanium replaced under AC+ for a cracked rear case, and I wasn't charged any fee at all.

If this is the case, then bloody fantastic!!

ohh... while typing I saw your contradiction to the above post.

Well, I did pay the $79... actually the full amount (like $900) is on my card right now which is the norm for the express shipped replacement of any AppleCare device(done the same with phones before). So obvious risk there...

I will be sending the old AW7 back ASAP in hopes that they put the full cost minus the $79 back on my card as they state they should as part of the normal process.

As soon as that money is no longer held on my card, I feel I will have won at that point. I'll be happy with my time and money spent if thats as far as this goes and the AppleCare goes away some day.

However, my steps after that will be to call and order a titanium sport band like some others have done. Then I will go in to an AppleStore and ask to pay to extend the AppleCare+ coverage and just see what they say. If I can, I may do a month or a year just so it goes into my name for certain at that point.

If I can't extend it, then I'll be happy I got a brand new AW Edition 7 Titanium for ~$350 with a potential 18 months of AppleCare+ that maaaaay end any day.

I think you'll be find and probably 90% chance you'll get to keep the AC+.

If you remember, tag me when you get the confirmation that you're charged the $79 or not. I'm more curious than anything, as I was fully willing/expected to pay the $79 but the charge never came for my watch. The 'hold' just disappeared 100%.

I once wanted to cancel the reminder of AC+ for a phone I wanted to sell, which was an iPhone 11 Pro Max, I belive, and got denied because I used the plan before. I was told that's only available if you have never used it, but if you've had either an accident or an extended warranty replacement, you can't cancel according to the information I got at that time. I know policies have changed in the recent years, so who knows.

That’s a great looking watch. Which band are you going to use?
Bought this to dress up my Ultra 2, but I think this is going to be my primary "out and about" or "dressier" load out when wearing suits on business trips or other occasions. The lugs match better than most being designed to match the titanium of the Ultra. While a perfect form fit on the Ultra, they aren't perfect here, but good enough.

I think I will pick up a Clay Solo Braided loop for sleep and casual wear. (wish there was a clay solo loop, but alas) Gonna call in and special order the original Sport band that came with these just to have. And I might get some more alpine loops to share with this and the Ultra.
