See, I can't see photo editing on the 11". And I've been trying it on the iPad 2. I just bought a MBA 13" and one has to go..not sure if it's the iPad or MBA 13". The trouble is I have a really fast hackintosh desktop, which blasts the MBA...but then I want to type more on the iPad, and they keyboard solutions suck.

I don't quite understand all the people selling their iPads for Macbook Airs.

I use my iPad primarily for reading - Flipboard, magazine apps, Reeder etc
These apps are either not available on the Mac, and even if they were, it's just a far better experience reading on the iPad than the Macbook Air ever would be.

Maybe it just depends on how you use your iPad/Macbook Air - but for me, they simply can't replace each other. If you're trying to use the iPad as a true laptop replacement by taking lots of notes on it and trying to do photo editing and file management etc then the iPad was not the right choice in the first place.

Buy whatever it is you need. If you need a portable reading experience with some browsing and games and interesting apps get an iPad. If you need a full computer experience on the go in a portable package, get the Macbook Air. If you need both, get both devices.

I bought my iPad 2 intending to use it like my iPhone: web, email, games. But after the first few months, I found I wanted to use it more like my iMac: Pages, Numbers, organizing/editing photos. I wanted to have the most recent revision on my iPad and iMac, but I quickly got tired of transferring documents every time I made a change.

So I sold my iPad 2 and I'm trying to sell my iMac, and they will be replaced by an 11" MBA. It will be more powerful than my Core Duo iMac, and more practical than the iPad.

Having all my documents with me, and not having to manage them, will be great. iCloud might solve this issue, but since my iMac won't run Lion/iCloud anyway, and I'm tired of having multiple devices, making sacrifices with the iPad and hating sitting at my desk with the iMac... I think the MBA will be the best solution for me.

Keeping iPad2. Much easier to watch moves on flights (i.e. weekly for me). That plus battery live plus Verizon always on internet and iPad only apps, the Air and iPad compliment each other very well. No reason to sell the iPad.

Agreed! It's threads like this that make me question whether some people buy things for use or buy things for the sake of buying them. When the iPad 2 came out that's all people would talk about surely some of the same people in this post were clamoring to get one, now that's old news and the MBA is the best device ever and iPad 2's as well as perfectly good MBP/iMac's are being sold to compensate for the next "bandwagon" item.

I think it should be fairly evident that those who "suddenly find no use for an iPad" probably did not buy it for the right reasons. The iPad is not meant to be a full-time computer replacement but rather a supplement. I can only imagine what some of these people will say when Apple releases the redesigned MBP's "I had bought the new 11" MBA but then after a month I realized that the memory was too small, the smaller screen was a pain and the battery life just wasn't long enough so now I sold that and i'm really excited to get my new MBP!"
