Noticed on the tech spec page that the 2011 MBPs have "Stereo speakers with subwoofers" and wasn't sure if the older 2010 models had them. Tried to google for the MBP 6,2 tech specs but not successful.

    Just for curiosity's sake. Anyone?

My 2010 13" mbp does not play tones 100 Hz or lower.

I was able to hear a 200 Hz tone, and am not sure about the range between 100 and 200 Hz, but definitely anything 100 Hz and lower was not audible (even though it should be audible at 100 Hz).

you should be able to. I know the 2010 MBP 13 has at least one subwoofer.

    As GGJstudios notes: Yes.

Before I bought my 2010 MBP 13", I researched the differences between it and the 13" Macbook. There were a few more differences than people commonly mention, the speakers being one of them (no subwoofer on Macbook; yes on MBP).

I can't believe anyone else asked this question. I thought I was the only one wondering! I guess the subwoofers suck because I have never heard any rich bass sounds from this '10 MBP

    Neither on 2011 13" model

Just played this video which is a sound test.

Using my MBP speakers the lowest range I could hear was 200Hz. Using my Klipsch S4 I could hear down all the way to 10hz (30hz was the last clearly hearable tho)

Installing a just 200hz capable subwoofer in a computer feels like a waste to me

On my 2008 non unibody MBP I can hear down to 80hz properly, with the speakers up

    Subwoofers? Oh please

Has anyone looked at these? are they little ported jobbies, or just a dedicated lower freq driver? .

    One thing is for sure

    They don't work LOL
