Is our long nightmare of the iPhone 4 face sensor over? One of the biggest let downs of the 4, I am praying to Gob that it's fixed.

Well??

Gobstoppers? I pray to them daily.

I haven't had any problems with the proximity sensor so far. Of course, I've only made 2 calls, but those 2 calls had no problems.

The 4 is pretty terrible with the sensor. It was flawless with the 3GS, but the 4 has been just a nightmare of muted calls, accidental conference calls, and random apps launching.

Seriously though, is this something that has been improved?

Great for you, but a lot of us did, myself and my wife included. Constant muting, holding, opening of the contacts menu etc.

Anyway, to the OP, yes the proximity sensor is VERY fixed. It's clear that Apple fixed it to the point where it's pretty much impossible to get the screen to come on during a call. It's a very sensitive sensor, so the screen goes dark very easily. Works 100%, so you've no need to worry. I really didn't see Apple making the same mistake twice, and they didn't.

I definitely had this issue on my 4 and have not had it at all on my 4S. Time will tell, but looking good so far!

I've never seen any of this with my 4. Maybe you have a bad one.

I never had a problem with the proximity sensor on my iPhone 4. The only time I did was with my iPhone 3 which was swapped out on the spot at the Apple store Genius bar back then. My 3GS was fine too as had my 4S been.

I think ios5 might have helped because when I upgraded my 4 to it, it went away. My 4s does not seem to have the issue though.

i gave my wife my old 4 and put ios5 on it, but she keeps accidentally muting/facetiming me. (so im assuming it's still an issue)

4s does seem fine tho.
