    Question,

Doing an initial backup to my Time Capsule. Time Machine prefs say "Backing up xx GB of 313.68GB"; but my Get Info window shows "319.21 GB on disk" for Macintosh HD.

Is Time Machine backing everything up? Computer is a MacBook running 10.6.2; Time Capsule is a 500GB 1st generation model.

thanks for any insight anybody can offer!

    best,
    Mark

It doesn't back up some system files, since they would be replaced in the event of a full restore anyway.

And just in case you want to save some space and make more back-ups on your Time Capsule, you can leave all system files out of the back-up.
