MP 7,1 Difference between Display and GPU controller in MacPro 7.1

what is the difference of Display and GPU controller? my concern is: W5700x has DSC so does it mean the signal will pass through 'display controller (580X) then transfer to CPU directly ? Does it mean DSC disable as 580x is no DSC .....
