Difference Of Refurb 2.8 C2d & Refurb 2.8 C2d Extreme?

    Hey everyone, I just noticed that Apple has a 2.8GHz C2D Extreme on the refurbished site. Is there any differences other than the hard drive capacity bump that should warrant the extra $100 difference and the "extreme" tag from the regular 2.8Ghz C2D?

    Sorry I'm not too technical savvy and looking to purchase one by tomorrow. Thanks!

    Extreme(2.8) == Merom + 667mhz (ram) + $100 < C2D(2.8) == Penryn + 800mhz(ram) - $100


    Get the cheaper one because it's newer, faster, and cheaper.

    Unless you have to have the nominal amount of additional hard drive space, go with the 'regular' 2.8

    The "Extreme" is 2007 technology, which I believe is a 2.6GHz processor overclocked to 2.8GHz. As another poster mentioned, its FSB is 800 MHz and uses 667MHz DDR2 RAM. The other 2.8GHz is the 2008 model with a native 2.8GHz processor and a faster FSB of 1067MHz with faster 800MHz DDR2 RAM. Geekbench shows a slight performance improvement (about 2%) of this architecture over the "Extreme".
