    Hi,

I just got my first Macbook Pro (YAY!!), and after fiddling around with it for a couple of days I would like to take advantages of the features of syncing with iCloud in my new hardware and my iPhone 4 (basicly clean up account stuff and enable stuff like Photostream).

    I have two Apple ID's.

My x@hotmail.com is used on my new Macbook Pro for iCloud: contacts, calendars, bookmarks, photostream, doc's and data and Find My Mac. It is also used on my iPhone 4 for contacts, calendars, reminders and Find My iPhone.

My x@gmail.com is used on my Macbook Pro for Mail & Notes, Calendars and Chat. It is also used on my iPhone 4 for iCloud: contacts, calendars, reminders, bookmarks, photostream, doc's and data and Find My iPhone.

To me it seems like my two Apple ID's are contributing with the same things from multiple sides etc. My hotmail used to be my primary email, but I've changed and started using google's services more (especially mail, notes, contacts and calendar). I would like to remove hotmail as primary mail from my devices and use my gmail account as primary instead, and at the same time of course redirect my visa from my hotmail iTunes account to my gmail Apple ID. I will still add my hotmail to get the mail in my iOS and OSX mail native mail programs, but only as a "secondary" account attachment.

I've been reading about these topics of merging multiple ID's as well as the answer to this question https://discussions.apple.com/message/16400957#16400957 , but I can't figure out where to start and what to do. Can anyone please help me, let me know what to do, in which order or point me in the right direction?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards,
    Esben

Ps. I've attached a screenshot of my iPhone 4's settings under @Mail, Contacts, Calendar@, hoping it makes it clearer what is on my iPhone, than I were in the text.

You can not merge iTunes Apple ID's so best to keep one that has most if not all of your purchased content. However, you can change it's Apple ID. You can manage ALL of your Apple ID's at "appleid.apple.com". Then click on Manage your account.

Once you get the iTunes Apple ID Set put it under Store on all of your devices then you want to decide on 1 iCloud Apple ID Account (can be same as iTunes but not necessary) and set it all of your computers and devices. You can then add your various email accounts. You get the best support for all of the accounts listed on your iOS Devices. But you do not get the same support on your Mac. Like with Hotmail, I do not think you can add all of the ActiveSync Features to the Mac that you can to the iOS Devices. Best to figure out all of your devices and determine the best for the entire group. I have switch to iCloud for all of my personal email, contacts and calendar because for me it seems to work best on all of my devices. iPhones, iPads, Mac Mini and Macbook Air.

Let me just check if I understand correctly. Since I have only used my x@hotmail.com account/apple ID for purchases, it's best to keep that one, and assign it as primary apple ID for both of my apple devices and my iCloud connection between them as well. If that is correct, how do I then change it from the x@gmail.com apple ID I typed in the iPhone's iCloud settings, to my x@hotmail.com apple ID, when it's grey'd out?

Btw. thank you very much. Any help greatly appreciated :)

To be clear you want to keep the x@hotmail.com for iTunes "Store". You do not need to use it for iCloud or anything else but you can. Also, at appleid.apple.com you can change the apple id. Regarding changing the iCloud Apple ID on your iPhone. I think you need to do Settings / General / Reset / Reset All Settings. Then when it comes back up you can enter you new iCloud ID. Keep in mind that if you change you iCloud Apple ID you would not have any information you have on the old Apple ID. Best to get this stuff setup the way you want it from the beginning. There may be another way to make this change that I am not aware of. I just accidentally used my iTunes for my iCloud when setting up my new iPhone 4S and had to do that.
