Can someone please let me know if there are any major differences I should be aware of between the G-Tech Safe and the Guardian MAXimus, other than the fact that the Guardian MAXimus costs $370 less while at the same time provides an additional Firewire 400 port and a SATA port...

Thanks!

Hotswappable drives and the accompanying features is likely what you're getting for the price premium. I would feel confident with either of those products.

Hot swappable drives...in my opinion not a huge deal.

From my understanding the MAXimus will rebuild the secondary drive automatically (if one fails) when you replace the drive. Not a big deal to open up the case. 🙄

Save the scratch and go with MAXimus or check out a Drobo. The Drobo will give you the option to add additional drives in the future, plus it works with various HD sizes.
