For the last week or so whenever I turn my computer off, then back on, I get a screen that shows pics of those of us using my early 2011 MacBook Pro. In order to continue the start up process I type in my admin password, then the computer continues the start up process. This sequence is new to me.

How can I configure it to return to the sequence wherein I simply turn the machine on and it proceeds to being ready to use?

You can not startup without entering a password if you have FileVault enabled.

If FileVault is disabled then;
System Preferences>Users & Groups>Login Options, click the padlock in the lower left, enter your admin password to unlock, and finally select your User account name from the Automatic Login: drop menu.

CoastalOR, thanks so much. That did the trick; however, I have no idea how, after a number of years, that setting crept in.

In any event, all is well at this point, thanks again.
