Different output to Projector

Hey there, Basically I want to be able to see my desktop on my macbook and be able to select a slide to display through the projector for slideshows. If this doesn't make sense I will explain further but I really could do with this help.

You should be able to accomplish this through System Preferences > Displays > Arrange.

I've managed to get the presentation on the prjector now, (thanks) but how do I select the slide on OpenOffice to allow the presentation to change. E.g. I am on slide 3 and want to go to slide 13, but dont want to go 3, 4, 5, 6, etc. and can just click on slide 13 on OpenOffice and it will go straight to that. How do I do that?
