different screen size?

i remember a thread were someone was saying that the 3G iphone looks ugly because the screen doesn't touch the edges like the older one, now that i have one, i know what he's talking about. but does that mean the screen is a little bit smaller?

The bezel is slightly larger. The screen is the exact same in terms of pixels and physical size.
