iOS Different versions for 3G/3GS users(New binary for iOS 4 only)?

My client wants to leave the exact binary that is on the store now for 3G/3GS users while uploading a new one for IOS 4 only with different features. Is this possible or would it have to be a different app?

The only way to leave a binary in the App store is to submit a different app (with a different name and appID).

Yup...but they want to add in features that are iOS4 only while keeping the older version for everyone else.

From what I know, you will have to do a different app. For the iOS 4 version, I'd just use the name of the old app and either add a suffix like "II" or "HD" onto it and call it done.
