Different versions of iMovie

im trying to install imovie 3 but it wont let me because i have imovie 8. i tried trashing the newer version but it still wont install because it says i have a newer version. is there a way around this?

you can try deleting the imovie 8 receipt, that may work. /Library/Receipts/
