Right now I have my 2010 macbook pro hooked to a 20 in apple cinema display using mirror mode, is there a way to just use the external monitor? or another mode besides mirror? I read some mentioning dual mode, what is this? I would like to use the coolest & most efficient mode for my laptop.

Dunno what the domusszjutt guy was talking about, but there are two other ways to use your display:

1.) Go to Display Preferences, then uncheck the "mirror" box. You will be able to use both your laptop display and the Cinema Display simultaneously. You can rearrange how the screens are set up in the "arrangement" tab.

2.) Close your laptop with the display, a keyboard, and a mouse plugged in. Then wake it back up with the external keyboard or mouse. This will let you use just the Cinema Display, with your laptop closed.
