Ordered an Apple Watch 4 on launch day and decided to return it when it was preparing to be shipped. I called Apple to cancel the order so I could get the refund as soon as possible. I wasn't expecting it to be shipped.

They shipped it anyway via UPS and it started its normal route to my address but on delivery day 9/21 I received a notification from UPS saying that they did a Proactive Response, intercepted the package, changed the address and re routed it back to Apple.

Since then the watch has traveled back and forth making stops in Louisville, Orlando, Jacksonville and Miami as you can see in the image below. I have got emails saying "We've incorrectly sorted this package which may cause a delay."

I've talk to both Apple and UPS and all they say is the address change has been done successfully and I have to wait. The wait so far has been a whole week. One entire week to move a package from Miami to Mount Juliet, TN.

This is really frustrating since nobody seems to be doing something to solve my problem. Has anybody experienced something like this before?

UnFortunately there’s nothing you can do. It’s UPS’s responsibility now and you will just have to continue to monitor the tracking to make sure its successfully delivered back to Apple at their warehouse location. In the future, what I would do, when The order is in ‘Preparing for shipment’, Apple really can’t cancel the order for you, they can try, but most times it won’t be successful. In Which case, allow the package to be delivered to you, then return it back that way. In Your situation, the package being resent back just creates a totally different type of shipping route.

It's just a shipping carrier mix up. I've had it happen occasionally with FedEx. Also if expedited they can't typically reroute/return it as well sometimes, before delivery. IMO not a big deal, as you can still return it; it's just the hassle of having to drop it off or ship it somewhere. There is always at least some risk of these types of issues when placing an order anywhere.
