Comparing The Sound Quality - in comparison to older iPhones.

The sound (when using the adapter Apple supply) with the same Dr Dre Urbeats earphones sounds louder and more "bass-ier" on the iPhone 5 and 6 than on the 7.

Even the same song that I remember turning down every time it came on I found myself actually trying to turn it up...then I realised the volume was already on max.

I am certain that none of the volume control options (EU Volume Control etc) are turned on and the EQ is still on the same setting

I swiped the adapter from my wife's new iPhone and did some listening tests against my iPhone 6s+. The dongle appears to have a slight edge over the phone's audio jack. The amplifier in the dongle seems more capable (better damping/lower impedance) than the built-in one, which results in better dynamics and slightly more lively bass. That said, I've been testing with my Alessandro MS-Pro headphones, which are easy on amps. It would be interesting to hear from people with "difficult" headphones, such as the AKG-702 or similar.
