I'm very interested in this well. Hoping there will finally be native support for fuji's lossless compressed raw files.

It's not listed under - About this Mac > System Report > Raw Support like in Monterey?

The Raw Support page in the System Report doesn't list the restrictions on file types. For example, it lists raw support for the Fujifilm X-T4 but it doesn't list the restriction that compressed and lossless compressed raw files are not support. I was hoping Ventura would expand that raw support to compressed/lossless compressed raw files.

Odd thing, Final Cut and iMovie have native ProRes RAW support for Panasonic GH6, but no native MacOS love for GH6 RAW still format in Monterey?

It's half-past August already and that camera has been out since March, what's the hold up Apple?

I'm hoping that with the Official release of Ventura in the fall they include support. My camera has been out for almost a year and still nada....

After checking this on my M1 MBP 12.5.1 it looks like Apple has not updated their camera support since May 2021 with the GH5 Mark II! 😖 Other cameras released since then and still awaiting native Apple support...

Product timeline: Digital Photography Review : Digital Photography Review

There was a time back in the Aperture/iPhoto days when Apple would release not-tied-to-major-OS-releases Camera Raw Support downloadable updates for recent camera releases. The beauty of this method was that new-camera-buyers did not have to wait upwards of a year (or more) to make use of their new camera's Raw files, and folks not willing-or-able to update their computers to the latest OS could still enjoy support for their brand new camera's Raw's!

Wow, what an ingenious concept Apple! Uh, what happened to that practice?!

I was able to secure a list from a Ventura install for the current state of Camera RAW supported in Ventura and compare that list against my Monterey install...

Ventura Raw Support for cameras released since Monterey...

NO Not supported in Ventura,
YES New supported added in Ventura,
YES M&V Support had been added to Monterey via an undocumented MacOS update at some point and continues in Ventura.

2022

Oct 26th - OM System OM-5 NO, Sony a7R V NO
Oct 13th - Sony ZV-1F NO

Sep 28th - Sony FX30 NO
Sep 8th - Fujifilm X-H2 NO
Sep 7th - Hasselblad X2D 100c NO

Jun 29th - Nikon Z30 NO

May 31st - Fujifilm X-H2S NO
May 24th - Canon EOS R7 YES M&V , Canon EOS R10 YES M&V

Feb 22nd - Panasonic Lumix DC-GH6 NO
Feb 15th - OM System OM-1 YES

Jan 19th - Canon EOS R5 C NO
Jan 13th - Leica M11 NO

2021

Oct 28th - Nikon Z9 YES
Oct 21st - Sony a7 IV YES M&V
Oct 7th - Panasonic Lumix DC-BS1H NO

Sep 9th - Ricoh GR IIIx NO - Note: No Ricoh Camera RAW support in MacOS ***This information incorrect, Ricoh GR, GR II, GR III RAW support found under Pentax Ricoh listing for M&V
Sep 2nd - Fujifilm GFX 50S II NO, Fujifilm X-T30 II NO

Jul 27th - Sony ZV-E10 NO

Jun 29th - Nikon Z fc YES M&V
Jun 9th - Olympus PEN E-P7 NO

May 25th - Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5 II (most recent camera in Monterey)

Interesting to me is how Canon R7 and R10 along with the Sony a7 IV and along with the Nikon Z fc got to somehow see MacOS support added in between a major OS release. The only two recent cameras that are actually added in Ventura are the Olympus (OM System) OM-1 and the Nikon Z9. No native Ventura RAW love for Fuji, Hasselblad, Leica, Olympus, Ricoh, some Sony and my Panasonic GH6.

To opine, briefly...as a long time Mac user (since 1995) this information comes as a disappointment to see so many recent camera releases go wanting for native RAW support on a system I've come to know and rely-on. A far cry from just a few years ago when Apple would supply semi-regular Camera RAW updates for Aperture, iPhoto and Preview in-between OS releases.

As of this writing, Apple has yet to publish their own updated Ventura documentation to...

Digital camera RAW formats supported by iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and macOS Monterey - Apple Support

...my above reporting is based solely on the "in situ" system reports generated by that Ventura install and my Monterey install.

Well, it's official now, Apple just published their official RAW support list yesterday (dated Nov. 1, 2022)...

Digital camera RAW formats supported by iOS 16, iPadOS 16, and macOS Ventura - Apple Support

...and there's no native RAW support in Ventura for the following cameras released since Monterey last year (alphabetical by manufacturer this time)...

Fujifilm X-H2, X-H2S, GFX 50S II, X-T30 II
Hasselblad X2D 100C
Leica M11
Nikon Z30
Olympus Pen E-P7
OM System OM-5
Panasonic GH6, BS-1H
Ricoh GR IIIX
Sony ZV-1F, FX-30, ZV-E10. a7R V

...which jibes with the Ventura/Monterey RAW list comparison provided earlier in this thread.

I just checked and my Sony a7m4 raw files are not supported on a latest official macOS Ventura. Also iOS 16.1 won’t show them. Is there an update I have to wait for in order their claim to become true?

Hi jannolii,

Well, that's interesting to read, seeing how Apple specifically lists the camera in the linked post, and that it shows up in the Ventura RAW Support list from Ventura that was supplied to me.

I'm curious, what Apple software are you using that's not opening your ILCE-7M4 RAW files? (I.e. Apple Photos, Preview, etc.?)

:)

Apple Photos. Tried Lightroom Classic and it showed same images without problem. Actually.. exported them from Apple Photos and then imported into Lightroom Classic.

The strangest thing just happened… Photos on iPhone (iOS 16.1) just started to show those RAW files. I didn’t do anything to get it working. It just happened by itself. Apple Photos on macOS Ventura still don’t show them.
