Digital Touch just doesn't work on my Watch

Hasn't worked since day one but I'm only making a topic now because finally someone I know just got theirs. I know you find DT via the side button and choosing a contact. I assume the DT button appears at the bottom-middle of the screen but I just get a tiny loading circle that eventually just disappears. And when my friend sends me DT messages, I get the notification and am able to get to the actual screen but I can never see their messages.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I've tried resetting the Watch, hasn't worked.

Is your iMessage working correctly for that contact & do you have a data connection

Try turning iMessage off and back on.

Yes, yes, and I've tried. Still nothing 🙁
