isnt the main advantage of mini LED over OLED merely cost?
I'm literally in the exact same boat as you and I'm doing the same thing lola.k.a hold on to my 2018 15" MBP and 2017 10.5" iPad Pro and wait for the end of 2020 to upgrade.
I pray that the next iPhone has mini LED so I can replace my ancient iPhone 6s+ with something that has a better screen.
OLED is the devil.
Micro LED is not coming anytime soon.I think there were rumours of a budget iPhone with miniLED but the flagships for sure will adapt microLED, overcoming OLED's cons.
It’s indeed a very strong machine. Would like more RAM, though. With the design, features (FaceID, USB-C, and new Apple Pencil), and power of the A12X, anything less than Mini-LED and A14X seems like a very minimal upgrade. Judging by the cost of the iPad Pros now, I can imagine if they in fact go Mini-LED, that will drive the cost up higher. I am happy I just bought my 2018 12.9”. There’s simply nothing available I use that taxes this thing now or in the next few years.

isnt OLED better for reading? (because you can get deep blacks on a per-pixel basis for small text) (and therefor better for the iPad Pro?)

How old are you ooc?I have a similar question. I use my iPad mainly for hand written note taking with Notability. Will a Mini LED make a noticeable difference for this purpose?

So it’s happeningPeople are dumping on DigiTimes, perhaps with justification, but the lede by MacRumors was a whopper!
”Apple plans to launch a 12.9-inch iPad Pro and multiple notebook models with Mini-LED backlit displays by the end of 2020, according to industry sources cited by Taiwanese publication DigiTimes.

This lines up with information shared earlier this week by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who said Apple is developing six products with Mini-LED displays for release by the end of 2021”
Well, the products may line up, but the dates sure don't!
In fact, even the product information isn't quite right!
“DigiTimes claims that Apple will also adopt Mini-LED backlighting for "a few models of LCD monitors," but it is unclear if that refers to the iMac/iMac Pro or standalone displays.”
