Sooo would this be considered a 4th product in the line up? Or are these new Airpods replacing the 2nd gen & wireless charging case Airpods gen?
if its a 4th product then that’s confusing 🥴

Can someone explain to me what the price point and market for these would be? Unless the cut the price of the regular AirPods, I don’t understand the tiers.

it’s DigiTimes y’all, keep calm and carry on lmao

(I would be *shocked* if Apple got rid of the EarPod-style design/didn’t just knock it down to like $99 so they can aggressively market these to EVERYONE)

i really hope these are like the regular airpods in that they dont have the silicone tips

My guess is these will be $199 and Airpods 2nd gen with a wireless case get a price drop to $180.

I’m in the hope the AirPods either retain the corded EarPods shape or if they offer Prostyle tipped ones, they offer both. Making everyone wear those uncomfortable tipped things would suck. Don’t force that on all of us. You want Pro and ANC get that. You want better sound get over the ear w or w/o ANC. Want to work out, go Pro or PowerBeats. Or even plain AirPods work for that. But please Apple leave the AirPods shape alone. You’ll lose buyers if the tipped Pro becomes the only form factor.
They won’t lose buyers. Where you are going to go, especially if you have an iPhone? You talk a big game about leaving but you know darn well you will along with many other “unhappy about the change” customers still buy apples offering because it’s simply the best in ear package to date regardless of the shape. I HATED the fit of the old AirPods but still used them because they are the best overall experience.

Well that is one way to fix their current Pro issues. Don't release an updated firmware to fix the microphone feedback issue with ANC/Transparency.. lets just release a new pair, remove those features and price it cheaper.. who would know? Seriously, love Apple products but their Airpod Pro's are by far the worst product they've released in a long time.
AirPods Pro are being discontinued? That’s too bad, they’re hugely popular, people love them.

They were correct about Apple bringing out the apple magic keyboard.

Regular AirPods with two different tip styles. Or maybe this newer model with silicone ear tips replaces the older style completely. No one knows.

AirPods Pro is a completely separate product. They have ANC and are more expensive, $249.

Actually this must ge what it feels like to be wrong for you. Sit down. Deal with it. I won’t be buying tipped in ear AirPods Pro units just because it is the only thing available from Apple in form factor. There would be other alternatives. But i won’t and don’t use tipped in ear pods because they are not comfortable. I rarely use AirPods for music except to work out. I prefer my Beats Studio 3 Wireless for music because of the sound and immersion. The AirPods primary use for me is for hands free calls. So that I don’t have a dreaded cord to untangle.

You and I are the exact opposite. I hope they do offer them with in-ear tips. The regular plastic body AirPods don't fit my ears. Offering regular AirPods with the plastic body and regular AirPods with in-ear tips is a win win for all concerned. Everyone can get what suits them best.
I had the first and second gen AirPods and was reluctant to get the pros because I didn’t think they would be comfortable. I bit the bullet two months ago. Now I find the regular EarPods uncomfortable which are basically the same as the first and second gen AirPods. The AirPods Pro are actually really comfortable.

rubber ear tips are very annoying for users and very profitable for Apple

This is simply Bad logic.

The ear tips provide the customization (As in a proper seal) the user needs to make the product comfortable, if they aren’t comfortable, then what does the user do? They return them. That’s not what Apple wants. The tips ensure that most will find an appropriate fitting that will suit their needs to enjoy the product comfortably, which long term—> transcends into more sales for Apple= More profits.

I hope they don’t use the inner tip for regular AirPods from now on. The pros were always falling out of my ears

Pft the current Pro models don’t feature active noise cancelling thanks to that firmware update that severely gimped them.

Sure glad I read these forums, how else would I find out of all these problems? Been using the noise cancellation on my AirPods all this while without knowing!!! I was lulled into thinking they sound good. And yep, I checked, I have the dreaded update.

Not debating if there is a change, just think its way overblown to call it severely gimped. And yep I work in an environment with loud HVAC. Still use them. Still helps. When I play music, sounds great with ANC on.

It's unclear from this article what Apple's future product line is... so I think I will wait and see before judging.

Seems like thats what they’ve done with the current AirPod Pros after the flawed firmware updates.

But how will the narcissists let everyone know they're wearing the premium product?

You’re over complicating this. I just voluntarily tell people I own the Pros. It’s really easy. Plus, I have an ‘Apple logo’ tattoo on my right bicep, and it’s the perfect conversation starter to slide in what AirPods I own (And I name drop other Apple products I own too). It’s called strategy. 😁

That's going to be confusing for some people if the design is said to be the same as the current APP so they better read the description to make sure which model they're buying.

Maybe have the APP 'lite' in different colors to differentiate it.

No word if Apple will include Foam tips instead of the plastic silicone tips to provide some passive noise cancellation but very doubtful.

Hopefully, Apple will also release a firmware update soon for the APP that corrects the mess it created in the functionality incl. the ANC.

After going back and forth between AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro, I found a killer deal and went with AirPods 2 to save $100. I love my original AirPods, but the battery doesn’t hold up like they used to.

Kind of a tech question, but why are the wireless charging case AirPods 2 rated at significantly longer battery life than the wired charging case AirPods 2?

Not that I don’t believe you (honestly), but do you have a source? It certainly feels that’s the case.

No, just 30 years of watching Apple operate. Gathering information around the community about all the issues with the internal microphone, especially the mesh screen. Until that is redesigned no firmware will correct the ANC issues, IMO. I’m hopeful they at least have a redesigned silicone for the tips. The issues with them are also ridiculous.

Thats it really. Just giving an opinion. :)
