Direct applications that start on login to other desktops

Hey,
So I have an IRC client that I want to boot in its own desktop layout (preferably fullscreen but I can appreciate the potential limitations). Any idea on how to do this? I'm very much a power user so don't hold back on the explanation

Right-click the icon in the dock and select Options then This Desktop under the assign to header. Obviously, have it on the desktop you'd like it on when you do that. It should then always launch on that desktop but I don't believe you can get it to launch full screen.
