    Hi,

I found a way to link to a file on an iDisk. This way you can send an URL to directly download the file.
You can read it in this entry on my blog.

This isn't the same as the feature Apple promoted 6 months ago, but has still failed to deliver.

You would be able to send a link to ANY file on your iDisk (no matter which folder it was in) AND set restrictions on who could access it.

You would have been able to set a password for that file and to only allow a limited number of downloads (e.g. one).

It would still work if you needed a way to do a basic share of a file.

Alternatively, you could place the file in the "Sites" folder on your iDisk, where the file would be at:

    http://homepage.mac.com/daveoc64/<filename here>

    Replace daveoc64 with your username.

I agree it is not same as clicking a button in iDisk that automatically sends a mail with a link to the file in it. You have to create the link yourself.

You can add the folder to the URL. That will still work.

I did not know Apple promised that.

    Thx for the feedback.
