hi community. i need to ask you which programm is good for direct to disk recording. until recently i was a pc user, and i used dv rack and later onlocation. i know i could use bootcamp. but is there any mac only solution? i know also there is scopebox but that one is not supporting HDV any input?
iMovie, FCE, FCP and QuickTime Pro will all record directly to hard drive from your camera (assuming you have a compatible Firewire capable camera). In FCE or FCP, you'll need to set "Device Control" to "Non-Controllable Device" and use Capture Now. I do this several times a year on multi-camera shoots taking a live feed from the switcher/DVE (through a DVCam VTR). Be sure to roll tapes in the cameara as backup. -DH
ok cool, but do i need to have a tape inside? and i saw also i can record from quicktime directly is that advisable? i have final cut pro but just wondering if i need to open the big guy to just record!
