Directions With Maps

Am I making this up or was it said at some point that there would be specific taps to let you know if your should go left or right when using maps? The video I watched just mentioned that you would get a tap when a turn was coming up.

They said this at the first keynote last year. Haven't seen any evidence of it but I can't see why it would have been taken out.
