I would assume there will be an app for the AppleTV. Wonder if it would be bundled with an Apple TV, like Sling. Also wonder, if the possible 4K Apple TV might get rolled out with this?

They only want sales people to mention this if regular satellite dish can't be installed?!?? That sucks.

They should offer this to current DTV customers as a back up in bad weather.

They don't want folks scrapping $100 service for $35 service.

Doesn't mean you can't do it.

If they think the cheaper, non-contract offering will remain a secret. Then someone in corporate doesn't know how social media works

I don't think they want to keep it a secret. I just think they are trying to ease it in to the rotation.

Have to wonder how many Dish folks switched to Sling right away?

What about offering a DIRECTV app for those of us who have the service already? I can mirror the iPad app, but I would rather DIRECTV have their own stand alone app for the Apple TV.

I'm with you on that. They need an Apple TV app like the one for iOS so we can use during inclement weather. Maybe do like HBO and have separate apps.

I used to have Directv an loved it's quality (DVR, picture, quality etc). Weakness was occasional weather interference, not often but it did happen. Had to switch to U-Verse. Now that they are all under one company, I would love to see AT&T to drop the U-verse brand and combine it with Directv/Directv Now, eliminate hardware DVR and have cloud DVR. And of course, do all this maintaining the Directv picture quality (probably the biggest challenge of providing the service over the internet). The AppleTV would be instrumental to this.

I think it depends on what's offered and if there is a DVR. That's kinda going to be the stumbling block for us. We record everything we watch. Cloud DVR will be fine, but channels and the DVR function are going to be key.

Well so much for the Nov 4th date so many websites were claiming for directv now. Maybe we will get lucky and it comes up later today. But I read on one article where directv denies it will come out today. Rather by the end of the year is what they were stating. We shall see.

It's 6:30 AM PT.

They've got a little while to update the App Store to make it today.

With that said, I don't think we will see it.

Looks like they are trying to launch prior to Thanksgiving so within 2 weeks hopefully. I imagine it would be a great marketing tactic to have it ready for all the family holiday gatherings for first hand experiences and uncle Eddy's gotta try it recommendation!

Yes, and we all know that every company always tells all their retail store employees all their plans.

It's happening! Bye bye Suddnlink.... Not ashamed one bit of hijacking my parents Direct TV subscription.
