'DirecTV Now' Offering 32GB Apple TV 4K at No Cost When Signing Up for 4-Month Service at $140 [Updated]

I did this last year for the ATV4 when it was only $35/mo for the higher (highest?) tier and you only had to pay three months in advance. It was pretty nice to get an extra one for an older downstairs TV.

I'd cancel service and have my wife sign up to get this but I'm grandfathered at $35/mo and don't want to lose that. Still seems like a discount if you sign up for another account and then cancel it after four months. Maybe you could gift the service to friends or family if they already have an ATV4/4K.

Also, it's pretty hilarious that they're doing this and yet don't even support 4K yet. Knowing them it will probably be years.

Yes, you can, I'd personally wait til it's delivered and in your hands. ;)
 
I trialed both Sling and DTV Now and both the user interface and picture quality of DTV Now destroys Sling. Sling you could tell it was a streaming feed, blocky text and some channels just not sharp. DTV Now all the channels look crystal clear just like a cable box. I just cashed in on this promo, even if you have no interest in the service if you want a 4K ATV you are saving $39 plus tax.
 
Did this deal. By my count, with the BankAmeriDeal $35 cash back, I'm saving $76 off the price of a new Apple TV 4K and I'm getting 4 months of Directv Now for free.

Added in HBO for $5, which I usually pay via iTunes and I'm saving another $38 (after considering taxes).
 
I did the offer and picked In-Store Pickup. Since it didn't give me info on how or where to pick up I started a Live Support Chat and this is what the rep stated:


Omar (Rep): Swell! How may I assist you with your Apple TV 4K questions today?
Me : I just signed up with your service due to the device offer you had
Me : and I chose in-store pick up but it didnt give me any info as to how or where to pick up the device
Omar : Awesome! :) I'm thinking of signing up for this as well for my grandma & keeping the Apple TV :D lol
Omar : That option was put in error; currently we don't offer in-store pickup, but I'd be happy to get the address updated for shipping ​
 
A lot of you are really misunderstanding what the advantages of this deal and how it works. For anyone wanting an ATV4K this is a great deal regardless of dtvnow. And if you bought last years deals and want this years deal but don’t want to lose the grandfathered $35 plan. If you bothered to read the article before commenting you would know that it’s 2 ACCOUNTS PER HOUSEHOLD.

And if you’re doing this just for the ATV4K like myself. You should absolutely immediate cancel your subscription after sign up so it doesn’t automatically renew. That’s how their system works! You prepay for 4 months in advance. So canceling right after sign up only cancels auto renew.

User should not be able to comment on articles unless they’ve read them. It makes it hard to get useful info in addition to what’s in the article.

I jumped in. I’ve been using and happy with Sling but getting a free 4K Apple TV is hard to pass up. I’ll more than likely go back to sling after the 4 months as Sling is $10 cheaper per month.

Not sure about DirecTV Now, but my regular DirecTV service does have 4K support... though unfortunately it's only on a few channels.

Excellent deal and perfect timing. Was going to buy ATV 4k as a christmas gift for my parents would of cost me $190.36 out the door at Apple store. DirecTV Now 4 months plus ATV 4k $141.40 total.
 
Are there geographic restrictions for using DTV Now? Wondering if I can get this and then bring it home to Canada...

Anyone not seeing this deal? Its charging me the full $200

nevermind - chose the wrong plan choice.

Yes. You are prepaying for 4 months of service and that's why you get the Apple 4K TV. They're hoping you stick around after 4 months. You can cancel it right away so it doesn't auto renew in March 2018.

I'm confused, you WILL lose the $35/month on the Go Big plan from last year if you sign up as a new customer to get this year's Apple TV 4K right? I just tried with a new email and its showing me $240 as a pre-pay amount due, so I guess you will be losing the $35/month deal.

First off, I agree. You are confused. You are I you already have the grandfathered $35/m promo from last year good. Keep using it. With the new account choose the cheapest plan in order to get the 4K ATV for the cheapest possible price.

I was concerned about this, so I called my local ATT store and they confirmed that they had 2 Apple TVs in stock.
I went after work, did the exact same thing I was being prompted to do online and left with a brand spanking new Apple TV 4K.

You did? So they gave you one for free at the Apple Store? What did you need to hand them in order to receive it?
