Ever since I got my AirPods I've noticed that there has been dirt on the case and it won't go away. its like the friction has etched them or something. Anyone else had this issue? IMG_9317.JPG

Some forum members reported the adhesive surrounding the Airpods look dirty and it's embedded in the creases. As Blaine stated, try a cue tip with rubbing alcohol very carefully.

I tried the que tip and it did nothing. It's like the dirt is fused into the plastic.

Right. It came that way from the manufacturer. Others have dirty adhesive embedded into the Airpods. There isn't anything you can do then, being its bonded into the adhesive.

Mine were the same. You've gotto pick these marks up early & wipe them away (i used a toothpick to scrape as hard as I could & dampened tissue) as the lid will 'sandwich' the dust/dirt to a point where it's very difficult to remove, as you've discovered.

Here are mine, roughly a week after cleaning them. You can see a build up of dust again, but when cleaned they almost all disappear. There was just one faint mark which remained.

I've had mine since Dec 22 btw.

I'm bothered by the same concern however I believe it has more to do with the cases internal magnets attracting iron based derbies. It is a dissipointement in having to clean it away all the time.

I clean my phone (case) at the end of the week & wipe it's screen nightly before bed.

Cleaning the Airpods case every couple of weeks is no biggie for me. The Airpods themselves get a wipe down also, which they need, seeing as they live in our ears for much of their life.

Defo iron based grit creating the blemishes where the magnets are.

I gave up cleaning all off as it would just reappear a few days later.

I wipe my case down with 91% alcohol and a Q-Tip probably weekly. I also clean my AirPods with the alcohol and a cotton ball. Keep the skin oils off and makes for a better "hold" in the ear.

Also by wiping your oils regularly, they're less slippery in the fingers, reducing the risk of dropping the things!

Is alcohol ok? No discolouration? Thought I read somewhere that an attempt at cleaning the case with it affected the appearance....could be wrong..

I'll try to get some pictures of mine up, some of you would go nuts they're so dirty.

Plus 1 to the iron dirt getting stuck to the magnets.

The dust we are all collecting is due to the magnets installed under the plastic. It might be helpful to get a stronger magnet to pull that gunk off. Scraping risks scratching the case.

What I found out was that the dirt was just embedded into the plastic of the case. Ive been using Lacquer thinner every couple of months and the case looks like I just took it out of the box. Im sure that its not what Apple wants me to use and that its probably not good for it in the long term but i'm pleased with the results.

[doublepost=1511150032][/doublepost]I tried several things....then....THE SOLUTION! A q-tip just by itself with nothing on it. It has enough abrasiveness and gentleness to take care of all the “stuck” particles and not harm the plastic case. But I recommend doing it every once in a while to insure the particles don’t get too imbedded in the case.

That’s what I experience too. Hated it... anyone can answer why it’s like that aside from the fact that the case have magnet that attracts anything to stick on it but the ones that I have is like a rust that stucked around the plastic.
