Some of Ya'll are nasty.

Dirtiest place to take my laptop? Any public place on (my) campus. It seems like people poke holes in their coffee cups so they can leave a fine layer of sticky brew all over the table tops, and this is for pretty much every one. Same for the library.

Construction sites have to rank as THE dirtiest place to take computer hardware. The dust and small debris can easily clog a notebook thus, causing heat build up.

Usually, engineers that visits such areas take their laptops with them to show CAD structural drafts. Specialized laptops designed to withstand environmental punishment and ground impact when dropped from moderate heights are usually needed.

The Macbook Pros are fairly robust but I wonder if they could be classified as being of industrial strength quality for such environments.

I Disagree. Im work for an Industrial construction company in Chicago. We do work for every kind of building in Chicago thats not residental. By FAR the dirtiest places we are in are ...

I work in a steel mill, and i wouldn't go a day at work without my laptop. I play Diablo 2, and watch movies (i have about 65 movies on my hard drive).

Yes, steel mills. In the forging areas to be specific. These people come out completely black every single day. My company does maintenance work for a large number of the big steel companies in Chicago.

No other construction site that we are on even comes close the the steel mills...

I'm still babying it a bit, so the dirtiest place is a university lecture hall.
Although, I do agree with Eddy. There seems to be coffee on every surface on college campuses.

Apple makes some pretty hardy laptops. My G4 PB has been in some pretty ratty places on every continent except Antarctica and operated in temperatures well outside the range Apple recommends. It hasn't missed a beat but the case is starting to look somewhat unloved though.

The dirtiest place it has been is undoubtedly Khartoum. Except for a few months during the rainy season the dust and dirt never leave the air and its worse during a sandstorm. No, the machine did not have the benefit of an air conditioned room during the years it was there either.

I have been thinking about taking my macbook to work.

However i work at a camp which is 6 hours drive east of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. If anyone has ever been around there they will know that all soil is, is a fine red dust that gets everywhere! I mean everywhere. Not sure clogging my laptop up with fine red sand would be good for it.

I need a fully sealable case which would not be good for air flow.

Dirty!

The dirtiest place where I ever used my computer was my house. I can imagine that my house at the time was dirtier than many people's lavatory. Oh, wait... I've had that computer in the lavatory!

I like to take my time... and get bored easily... I am writing these lines while ehhhhh... no, not really. Those days are over. I got bored with the constant cleaning of my computer. But I don't read other people's magazines in the lavatory anymore.

I used mine one time near some college students. -shudder- what a disgusting filthy bunch that was.

My MBP comes to work with me, my desk is usually covered in wires and dust. Screen is cleaned once a week and iskin gets disinfected too. When working on customers machines can't be too careful cleaning things.

The only laptop that goes to the toilet is my old windows laptop.
