Hey there

I have been using bluetooth headphones for quite some time now (right now the Sony WH-1000XM2) and finally my patience is gone and now hope that someone in here has a solution for my problem:

When I use the headphones with my iPhone and want to connect them to my Mac (e.g. when I arrive at the office), I always have to first disconnect the headphones from the iPhone and only then I can connect them to my Mac. Is there a way that I can connect the headphones to my Mac without either touching my iPhone or headset?! Basically I want to listen to music on the commute over the phone and when I get to the office I'd like to click a single button on my Mac to connect the headphones to it...this must be possible, right?!

thanks

There are headphones that can connect to multiple devices. I'm actually wearing a pair right now, Bluedio T2S. When I turn them on at work they connect to both my PC (work PC) and my tablet, providing sound from both (though one will interrupt the other).

I have some alternate advice: Disconnect your headphones as you arrive at work.
Interacting with others is more constructive, especially if you're stressed. You might not intend it, but wearing headphones of that size is the equivalent of putting your hand up and saying, "Do not talk to me." Do your colleagues mind you ignoring them as you enter the building?
While appearing unapproachable hinders collaboration, consistently refusing to engage in courteous morning conversations implies that you don't care about the people you work with, are unavailable to offer support, and are not open to advice.
It's also a safety issue, interferes with productivity, implies that you feel uncomfortable in your workplace, and is improper use of work resources.

You might think so, but I have one colleague that just walks up and starts talking, no matter what the status of my headphones is. I generally wear mine with one ear cup rotated back to open that ear for listening though, but he can't really see that from behind.

Frankly, you have no idea where I work, how I interact with people, or anything else about the way I do my work. So, can we please get back to my question?

Your Mac is already ON when you get to work?

Your headphones are on and paired with your iPhone. You have to touch your iPhone to disconnect them. What happens on the headset depends on the headset. I think that some headsets don't go into pairing mode when disconnected but still ON...but some might. So...even if you had a "button" on the Mac the headset might not pair.

You might be able to find or write an AppleScript to pair the Mac to the headphones but, as I stated, it depends on what happens with the headphones when disconnected from the iPhone. But your request is to not touch the iPhone or the headset so you're NOT disconnected from the iPhone. Are you tired of reading yet?
