Disable auto-save

Anyway to disable auto-save in Lion?

I already created a thread in that forum, but it went to Page 2 almost instantly with no answers.

Also, if something is autosaved and you delete it, is the original document deleted?

I've searched and searched and can't find an answer to this. This is a REALLY big annoyance for me and really the only complaint I have with Lion thus far. Hopefully, they'll release a Software Update or something, 'cause I dunno how long I can stand the autosave feature. Very annoying...
